Voluntariat

Help us with this exciting new role!!

Diverse Befrienders

Do you have an understanding of different cultures? Can you speak an additional language such as Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, Polish or, Romanian? Are you great with form filling?

Survivors who find themselves in refuge are often new to Northamptonshire and can find starting again really daunting. Some clients may speak limited English which only adds to their feeling of social isolation. We’re looking for Befrienders from a range of ethnic backgrounds to support clients in building their confidence and to help them to access local services, and develop wider social links.

The role requires just 2 hours from you each week on an ad hoc basis, depending on needs.

You'll need a driving licence and access to a vehicle and be willing to lift and carry donated items such as boxes of toiletries, toys, and occasional items of furniture. This role will be ad hoc with certain times of the year being busier than others, but we'd expect you'll need to be available a few hours each month, during the standard working day.

Volunteer Gardeners

Volunteer Hairdressers and Nail Technicians

Are you a qualified hairdresser or nail technician? Would you be willing to volunteer some of your time to help boost the morale of those affected by domestic abuse?

Arriving in refuge is tough and starting again in a new area takes courage and resilience. We would love to be able to treat residents to a haircut or to have their nails done once they have settled into refuge life; to give them a chance to feel more like themselves and to build their feelings of self-worth.

If you have the right skills and would be happy to offer your time on an ad hoc basis (just a couple of hours each month), then we’d love to hear from you.

We are looking for friendly, capable and reliable handy-person volunteers to undertake repair tasks on the interior and exteriors of our refuges. Although we have sites across the Northamptonshire area, we're looking for volunteers to support in the location that's most convenient for them.
