Some Top Tips to get those donations rolling in:

• Ask your most generous friends to donate first to set an example

• Include lots of photos, send emails and create links to the social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

• Set a target on your GIVEY page, so friends are more likely to be generous.

• Remind people that by adding Gift Aid, if they are a UK tax-payer it increases their donation by 25% at no extra cost.

• Get in touch with your manager or HR team to see if your employer offers ‘Matched Giving’. It’s an easy way to double your fundraising as your employer will agree to match the amount you raise

• Finally don’t be shy about telling people about it. You’ll be surprised how generous people can be when they see you are passionate about a cause and why.

Other ways to raise money:

• If you go out to celebrate for drinks or dinner, include a collection box on the table – and make sure people know it’s there!

• Get your friends to dress up as their favourite character and ask them to donate to your cause.

• Games: Get competitive and set up games or quizzes that guests can pay to enter, with a prize for the winner.
